Teddies for tomorrow Richard, the Steiff Hemp Bear 29 cm

"Richard, the Steiff hemp bear, is truly an extraordinary bear! His vintage design was inspired by the world's first teddy bear — PB55 — which was made in 1902, but he is up to date, as he is made from the latest sustainable and vegan-friendly materials.

His tousled coat is made from incredibly eco-friendly hemp. This sustainable, plant-based fabric absorbs natural dyes beautifully and feels as soft as mohair. His paw pads may feel like felt, but they are made from a groundbreaking new herbal material called Violan®. Just like the original PB55 on which its design is based, this teddy is filled with wood wool and its black wooden eyes shine. It proudly wears a special brass tag Teddies for Tomorrow on its chest. It shows a picture of the world's first soft toy, created by Steiff over a century ago.
